Bredonborough This morning is warmer

Bredonborough.
This morning is warmer but, surprisingly, feels colder. The taps in the downstairs shower room & scullery are all frozen.
12.43 Shopping & clearing snow off the front pavement. Nick Brown of Green’s Ironmongers tells me the government has stated anyone clearing snow from their pavement is not liable for pedestrians slipping on the cleared-pavement. Perhaps non-English readers will find it strange that a shopkeeper / householder, who has shoveled clear their street-space, might ever have been liable for the injuries of a pedestrian in slippage-mode. Nevertheless, in the last snowfall here, few pavements in Bredonborough were cleared for this very reason.
Off to Mother-In-Law Barbara for lunch.

As we were settling c. 20.30, a loud knocking on our front door: the Chubb securityman for the bank adjoining. The bank’s pipes have frozen & burst, water pouring down from above, electricians & plumbers on the way. Fortunately, no watery repercussions on our side of the wall.
To gentle.
